It’s amazing all the fun that can be had with a bit of nail polish, makeup and selection of wigs! The men have been preening and grooming themselves with moisturising sessions, nail painting, hair styling and sharing beauty tips. Whereas the ladies of the house, when they are not giving manicures and hair styling sessions, have taken on a much more dominant role within the house.
Ife’s wigs have caused much experimentation and amusement, and today it was Sunshine’s turn to explore her alter ego (check out her blog for her previous 'goth' experiement). Dressed in a short platinum blonde wig, choker and black lipstick the student paraded around the house showing off her new look. Unimpressed, John James commented that she looks like a cross between Marilyn Manson and The Joker! As much as I hate to admit it; I have to say for once I agree with JJ’s synopsis! What do you all think? Is it an improvement or should Sunshine ditch the wig?
Don’t forget to enter the Freederm competition to win tickets to the next live eviction, just give us your best pose and upload the pic! Simple as that!

To monobrow or not to monobrow
OK, so I have been trying my hardest not to mention this as I’m not a monobrow phobic, but I just can’t hold it in any longer…Nathan – will you please do something about that hairy eyebrow of yours!!!
He would give John James a run for his money as best looking male if only he invested in some tweezers or a spot of waxing. Surely Corin, who goes the full hog and draws her eyebrows on, could share some forehead shaving tips with her fellow northern housemate!
Although obviously proud of his almighty brow, Nathan revealed in his first week that he once listed his 6.5 inch eyebrow on eBay to see if anyone would sponsor it, apparently he got up to £5 before the listing was removed. He has also boasted that his eyebrow is the finest monobrow in the Western hemisphere; I think he probably means that his monobrow is the size of the Western hemisphere!
Am I overreacting? What are your thoughts? Should men keep eyebrows natural or is there any harm in a bit of preening to keep them looking tidy? Were eyebrows not intended to be separate from each other?

Shabby’s spot of bother
Just like we predicted at the beginning, all this eviction and nomination business is taking its toll on stressed out housemates. Obviously starting to crack with the pressure and strain of being locked away in a house together, Shabby woke up this morning with an enormous spot on her lip! Shabby by name, shabby by nature –the feisty housemate is not one for beauty regimes or using potions and lotions, however, she was surprisingly concerned with the monstrous blemish. After spending most the morning trying to pop the thing she then turned to best mate Caoimhe who helped her squeeze it! Now that is true friendship - I’ve heard of being close but picking each other’s spots is just gross! I don’t think I could do the same for my friends – would you?
Bizarrely, Caoimhe seemed to relish the task and afterwards told Shabby that it was 'very satisfying to do that'. Whatever floats your boat Caoimhe?!
There is bound to be more spots in store for Shabby as she is up for eviction for the 3rd week in a row!!
Enter our FreedermBB competition for your chance to attend the next live eviction and you might just ‘spot’ Shabby in the flesh – awful pun I know! Simply go to www.freedermbb.co.uk, check out the topic for the week, snap your best pic and submit!

Eviction night style
Have you noticed how the housemates always get really over-the-top glammed up for the eviction night; even those not nominated? It’s as if they are suddenly reminded that they are actually being watched by millions and up their beauty routines for the big night. Or perhaps its just gives them all something to do?
But anyway back to eviction news…
Despite bitchy Govan being the 'evictee' of the night, it was his arch enemy Ben who stole the show! We noted earlier this week that Ben has been, by far, the diva of the house since Rachael was voted out last week. Dressed to impress in his dapper blazer, tie and extra floppy hair, the posh housemate was all set to leave the house in style. Earlier in the day he was treated to a beauty sesh with Josie who, on his own instructions, painted his nails and added mascara, ‘man cream’ and the essential finishing touch - guy liner.
Dave also got the Josie treatment with red nails and a slicked over hair look which even gave Corin a run for her money! Makeup didn't save Rachael, but maybe for the boys adding some makeup to their personalities would keep from nomination in the first place!
I am loving watching all the boys get more and more beautified as the show goes on, especially Ben and his hilarious grooming antics.

Tantastic housemates
It’s been a scorcher of a week in the BB house, which has seen housemates permanently in the Big Brother garden doing what they do best – stripping off and sunbathing! With not much else to do in the house, most contestants throughout BB history have wiled away their hours lapping up the sunshine during their stay. Those pasty looking contestants that passed through the doors 2 weeks ago are now looking much more tanned and glowing, with some exceptions of course!
The worst offender of this year’s sun worshipping is by far the self confessed sun bed addict Corin Fanshawe. The Jordan lookalike is looking more and more orange by the day, always the first housemate out in the morning and last in. Poor Corin’s skin must be crying out for some shade and rehydration; perhaps she could borrow some of Ben’s vast supply of moisturiser? As eviction night looms the other housemates have upped the tanning stakes joining Corin in the garden to top up their tans.
Let’s hope Big Brother dishes out some more tasks or sun block soon or we could see some very dry and wrinkled housemates in the not to distant future.

Ben’s beautiful boys
Has anyone else noticed that in Rachael’s absence, we have a new style and beauty queen, or should I say king?! Ben has completely filled Rachael’s shoes in the beauty stakes. It all started as a mammoth midnight moisturising session last week with Ben doling out his skin care products to Mario, David and John James, while giving beauty tips and advice. Ben’s store of products even took Mario for surprise, exclaiming “I moisturise regularly and I thought I was vain!” Even rough and ready Northerner Nathan has taken up Ben’s advice and has started moisturising!
However, Ben's lotions and potions were not as well received by some as they were by others as Mario complained of them smelling like bleach. A moisturiser that smells like bleach – what on earth is Ben using?!
Following the boys pampering session, Ben has since been seen receiving massages in the garden from Mario and personal hair washing services from Caoimhe. This has got be the vainest man we’ve seen in the house so far?! His treatments are certainly working though if he is managing to receive so much attention from the other housemates. Let’s hope Ben survives this week’s eviction and sticks around so we can see what other beauty treats he has in store for the men in the house.

Oh Brother! Nail-mania in the BB house
Is it me or have nails become the obsession of the house this year? What with BB’s first gift of nail polish, Corin’s daily paint-athon and even the men dabbling in the art of nail painting – it's all about the nails!
Our observant Twitter-ers (@freedermbigbro) have picked up on this trend with several of you commenting about Corin painting her nails yet again! Now I'm a girl who likes nice looking nails, but I wonder - how is all this nail painting, removing, and reapplying affecting the housemates' nail health? I've heard that over-painting is what causes dry, weak and cracked nails – have you heard that too?
The BB11 housemates need to be careful; with all the cat fights that are starting to erupt, a pair of strong nails could be crucial.
I’m pretty sure another cause of bad nails is thumb sucking – and I am talking about regular thumb sucking Josie. If you hadn’t yet noticed, Josie is constantly sucking her thumb - morning, noon and night. I mean, firstly, how old are you Josie? And secondly, it’s not the most attractive habit to display on live TV in front of millions! You would have thought Josie would have kept the thumb sucking behind closed doors...
Okay...I know, that joke was the 'nail' in my stand-up coffin. Ouch!

Corin’s day of pampering
Corin’s ultimate day of heaven consisted of cupcakes, curry and a bit of pampering – every girl’s dream! In case you missed it, Rachael awarded Corin with a day of treats after discovering that it was Corin who retrieved her suitcase in her exit interview with Davina. Not surprisingly a treat to Corin involves beauty treatments galore, and why not?
After enjoying a head massage, cucumber on her eyes and a manicure in the Diary Room, Corin returned to the house looking super glamorous with her pink sparkly nails. However, despite all the pampering Corin still managed to complain that the beauty therapist hadn't done her nails very well and that she wasn’t allowed to keep the nail varnish to touch them up. How can Big Brother be so cruel? Perhaps it's because BB left the housemates some nail varnish in the welcome pack.
Ife and the other girls were particularly impressed with Corin’s pamper treat, and even John James – who is partial to using a few facial products – must have felt a teeny bit jealous that he was missing out.
Inspired by her beauty session, Corin has suggested that the housemates should have a girly pamper day in the bathroom this week to do their nails, shave and moisturise. The other housemates could be in for a surprise when Corin starts shaving her forehead again!

We all wave Bye-once
Shock, horror Rachael’s gone!! The first eviction of the Season and our bootylicious diva Rachael has left the house! Rachael was by far the most glamorous of the housemates, getting changed twice a day, checking the mirror constantly, reapplying her makeup and permanently schooshing those gorgeous locks of hers.
Following arguments with John James throughout the week that she is/isn’t arrogant about her looks, Rachael fought back in her exit interview that she is as insecure as the next girl about her image but tries to hold her head high and make the most of what she’s got. If anything, I feel that Rachael could be a positive role model for girls. She has proved – just like her idol Beyonce – that curvy is sexy and that she is proud of her voluptuous figure.
However, it seems all that schooshing and parading around in her underwear didn’t do Rachael much good in the house. It just goes to show that BB is not always about survival of the fittest!

Self-lovin' BB style
As we have got to know the housemates and seen them develop over the last week we have also witnessed some intense and bizarre beauty regimes transpire from some of the more image conscious contestants. Makeovers have had some interesting results. And then there's the whole verruca-gate thing rearing up again.
Even though there hasn't been an eviction yet, I think I can safely say that we have the most narcissistic group of contestants than any previous Big Brother. Which is fitting considering it's the last one! The bathroom has become the new living room in the BB house, with housemates regularly congregating here to pamper themselves, shower together and then pamper themselves a bit more. Maybe Big Brother needs to give them more to do?
We've already mentioned Corin, whose routine includes shaving her forehead as well as removing makeup first thing in the morning immediately followed by reapplying more makeup. Does she know how bad this is for her skin? (We're hoping she is using a quality cleanser!). Rachael admits that she checks the mirror over 100 times a day and she certainly isn't exaggerating! With so much effort on makeup and not enough on skin care, the housemates' complexions may be a lot less healthy and glowing by week 13 (Hello housemates. Yeah, it's Freederm calling... ;-)
Shameless plug: did you know we have a competition to win tickets to the BB evictions? Enter your lovely self at www.freedermbb.co.uk for your chance to see the tears live.

The Battle of the Bikini commences
The Big Brother housemates have been making the most of the sunshine today, or perhaps trying to win some favour by treating viewers and fellow housemates to a showcase of bikinis. But who will triumph as bikini queen of the final season?
Already a hit with most of her housemates Rachael has taken every opportunity to show off her curvaceous figure in an array of bikinis, underwear and shower scenes. However, despite strutting her 'bootylicious' stuff since day 1, Rachael’s friends and families have revealed that the Beyonce wannabe is actually quite insecure about her figure.
With seven attractive female contestants in the house this year’s bikini battle was always going to be an interesting one to watch. Although I’m just as enthralled by the men’s antics. First we had a show of revealing Y-front wearers followed by Mario’s streak through the house and then John James’s barely there towel display. Perhaps the boys are giving the girl contestants a run for their money in the ’bare all’ stakes this year!
Normally viewers have to wait a few weeks before housemates get brave enough to waltz around in next to nothing, however all the contestants have upped the ante in the final season of the show. We have some advice for the housemates – when lounging around outside, don't forget to protect your lovely skin; use suncream!

Minister Dave gets a makeover!
Welsh minister Dave has been treated to a makeover by fellow housemates Corin and Rachael. Boredom has obviously set in or perhaps, like all of us, the girls have been itching to get their hands on Dave since day one to spice up his image.
Treated to a new hairstyle by Jordan looky likey Corin, Dave is now sporting an exotic bird look – I think I preferred his hair before Corin got her hands on it! Although obviously pleased with her handy work, Corin boasts that the new do looks ‘well mint’!
The makeover doesn’t stop there. If you haven’t seen, Rachael has now joined in the fun and painted Dave’s toenails a lovely shade of vampy red. Who would have thought that both look a likes would get bored of preening their own hair and nails!
What is going on with the male contestants? Obviously envious of Dave’s new look, John James later got on the nail painting band wagon but doesn’t look like he’s done such a good job of it. The house seems to be bursting at the seams with big hair, makeup and general vanity this year and the men seem to be the worst of the lot! Perhaps we should be pleased that they are embracing their feminine sides, let’s see how far this new trend will go…

Hey Sunshine, bazooka that verruca!
The verruca-gate in the BB house has opened again this year as we discover the truth about Sunshine, warts and all! What is it with Big Brother contestants and verrucas? First it was Jade Goody in Big Brother 3 and her ‘minging’ verruca, then Alex Reid in last year’s Celebrity Big Brother and now the verruca brawl has raised its ugly head (or foot) again. If you haven’t yet seen, Sunshine has been getting teased about her verrucas, despite not having any, by fellow housemates. The vegan housemate is complaining of feeling isolated by the other contestants who keep laughing at her non-existent foot disease.
I don’t blame Sunshine for getting upset at being accused of having verrucas. No one wants to be seen to have foot fungal, especially when in a confined space where most housemates don’t even wear trousers let alone shoes and socks as protection. To top things off this conversation all took place over the breakfast table – disgusting!
Verrucas have become one of those shameful conditions we all dread to admit to despite being a harmless and common occurrence. Surely you all remember the embarrassment a verruca caused whilst back in school, the white rubber verruca socks – oh the shame of it! Let’s hope our housemates ease up on Sunshine and those verruca free feet of hers!
Or just bazooka Ben.

Shaving...Everywhere?
As day 5 in the Big Brother house arrives some shocking and extreme beauty regimes are revealed...
So I’ve seen girls who shave practically everything, but a forehead? Corin - what’s going on with that? We all know about shaving legs, underarms and even arms but shaving your forehead is a whole new concept to take on board! In case you missed it, Corin was spotted in the bathroom shaving her whole body, face, head and all, as part of her rigid beauty routine. We appreciate that in front of all those cameras a girl wants to look her best but is this going a step too far?
We all get carried away from time to time with our beauty regimes but have you ever gone so far as to shave your forehead? Is there even any hair to shave off on foreheads?! Corin could at least invest in some hair removal cream rather than her bright pink razor.
Corin prides herself on looking like Jordan, although I’m not quite sure what the famous glamour model would make of this bizarre behaviour! What more wacky and wonderful beauty habits does Corin have in store for us? I for one will be keeping a close eye on what else the northern lass gets up to.

Mole skin
As we enter Day 2 of the final Big Brother season we have already seen that the housemates are beginning to struggle without the luxuries and beauty products that usually surround them. Rachael has already had a panic attack over her straightening irons...what more drama is to come? Face cream, blusher, eyebrow pencils and fake tan can only last so long in the house!
Already the BB environment is causing factors which require specialised attention. The final arrival, Mario, was made the mole of the house on his first evening and given the mission to cause mischief to his fellow housemates to prove his worthiness as a BB11 contestant. Not only is appearing on Big Brother in the first place a stressful and nerve-racking experience, the added pressure of having to sneak around and lie to his new found friends is sure to cause havoc with Mario’s perfect complexion.
We all know that stress can mean mayhem for our skin...that means spots! We want to know: will our housemates get through the BB season blemish free?!

Big Brother 11 has landed! The final series of Big Brother has arrived with 14 more kooky, camera loving strangers laying bare their lives, warts and all (literally) on live TV! But what have the latest BB contestants packed for their 13 weeks of uninterrupted screening in front of over 4 million viewers?! Will Rachael continue looking so Beyonce-like by week 5? Will Mario’s obsessive supply of sun block and moisturiser survive his stint on the show? And will Corin’s eyebrow pencil be blunted before the end?
Mario is on the right track with his huge stash of moisturiser which after many inevitable days of alcohol and sunshine will keep his skin refreshed and hydrated. Ife and Rachael may struggle to keep up the high maintenance beauty regimes they follow outside the house; we will be keeping a close eye on how they cope without their usual beauty luxuries.
With so many image obsessed contestants crammed into one house there is sure to be fireworks and we’re not just talking about the girls! To introduce some more vanity to the mixture, Big Brother has supplied the ladies of the house with tanning lotion and nail varnish. Surely nail varnish is not an essential part of a beauty regime, why not supply all important face wash and moisturiser? Both are crucial elements in the daily beauty routine and are essential in keeping skin healthy and glowing. We can only assume that Big Brother has something up its sleeve…
